Paul Taylor, DMS, MBIM, FLA, a librarian by profession and currently Assistant Head of Library Services for the London Borough of Hackney, has a lifelong love of popular music and is himself a part-time musician and the co-writer of a number of published songs. His favourite music includes that of Sibelius, Satie, the Byrds, Bix Beiderbecke, Adrian Charman. Mahler, Tom Petty and the Heart-breakers, Edith Piaf, Delius, the Doors and Bob Marley. He also has an interest in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century industrial architecture, the poems of Robert Frost, and the works of Thomas Hardy, C.L.R. James, Raymond Chandler, John Fowles and Iris Murdoch. He enjoys horse riding and drinking claret.
